KCBD commentary on closing of the FBI investigation |
 |
4 years later, FBI investigation into city hall
is over
- with nothing, nada, zilch. Take that you rumor
mongers! And KJTV-34 (especially non-disclosing of conflicts of interests
Jeff Klotzman), you owe apologies to several and especially former
councilman John Leonard and Gary Boren. |
 |
Statement from John Leonard on the closing of the FBI investigation |
 |
Events leading up to FBI raid at City Hall, including timeline |
 |
Closed door meeting Thursday on City v. Parker |
 |
KJTV just can't join the FBI and close the case -
KJTV has been the chief rumor monger in this
case from day-one. With an anchor running personal hit-stories on an
individual while failing to disclose his substantive conflict of interest in
those stories. And now, when the FBI closes it out, meaning no justification
for any criminal matters, KJTV tries to confuse, in the minds of voters, a
civil contract dispute with what they've colored as possible criminal action
by those in city gov't. Shame on KJTV. Maybe they just swim in a sewer so
often that they can no longer smell the stink. |
 |
FBI, U.S. Attorney's Office drop
investigation against city of Lubbock
- so much for the city manager publicly calling the firm's owner a
"crook". That is a criminal and what else is wrong is that the city
manager has not had to pay a price for this wholly unprofessional
defamation. |
 |
City of Lubbock budget
could hit city staff hard with health care costs
- welcome to the world we live in! Did you catch the hypocrisy and
preposterous claims about the past! Since when were "costs around the
country" not going up? They were going up fast back at the AAG "split". City
management chose to use AAG as a scapegoat and laid cost increases at its
feet. But now their chosen firm raises costs and its just because costs are
going up nationally! What a joke, these people deserve little to no respect. |
 |
City, media want audit released
- The “audit” in question was not an independent audit. Instead, it was an
audit done by a firm which openly bragged in its brochure that it will get
whatever results its client wants. This so-called audit was a setup from the
Lubbock top brass. It is the City of Lubbock which refused, repeatedly, to
allow a true independent audit to be conducted. Remember, an offer was made
on Pratt on Texas and in other media outlets, as well is in District Court,
by the Ted Parker folk to abide by a true outside, independent audit from a
qualified firm. Heck, Parker even agreed to let the media choose the firm.
The City of Lubbock refused at every turn. That’s all you really need to
remember as it tells you who had the most to hide. (By the way, an
overcharges didn't go to Parker but to hospitals and doctors.) |

Healthsmart asks state AG not to release audit
in suit involving city of Lubbock -
remember, this "audit" was not independent but done by a firm which brags
about getting whatever results you want and hired by the City. It is the
City of Lubbock who refused an outside, independent audit. |

- Ted Parker gets besmirched by city employees AND his own company without
ever getting a fair shake in court or in any other forum. |
 |
City tries to reach settlement with Parker group
- from Day 1, the city could have ended all the lawsuits by simply allowing
an outside unbiased auditor to review the account and make findings. This
was offered from the beginning but the City of Lubbock refused and instead
has wasted tons of your money. |

they smokin' at City Hall? |
 |
Pratt:
Lubbock set to take Ted Parker lawsuits to an unprecedented level of
insanity |
 |
Majority of council members favor spending your
money for individuals (not the City) to sue AAG/Icon (Ted Parker) companies
- folks, this is NOT as City of Lubbock lawsuit over the health insurance
contracts. These are PERSONAL lawsuits by individuals, that's why each has
separate legal representation. |

Court documents reveal deposition by
Councilman John Leonard -
not answering questions does not imply guilt in anything. If there
is evidence that Leonard did something wrong, the FBI needs to
charge him - how long has it been? Years? |
 |

 |
Documents filed in Dallas scheduling
John Leonard's deposition,
AJ story - if it's not
clear KJTV, why attempt to smear Leonard's reputation? Hiding the
hit under a clarifying paragraph hardly makes it good journalism. |
 |
Documents reveal motives to quash,
seek councilman's deposition
- using materials to get advice from industry experts is not a
crime nor is it wrong. It is what elected reps do when being
responsible when they are not expert in a specific area. Over the
years I have advised office holders in areas where I had expertise
just as it appears that Jim White did. I've prepared questions,
etc. This is not a shady practice but a good practice. Otherwise
the rep is completely dependent upon the information and spin but
forth by the bureaucracy and the bureaucrats know this and use it
to move contracts and the like the direction they want. |

Councilman Leonard files motion to quash subpoena in Parker case |
 |
Lubbock Ranks 3rd In Medicare Costs
- yes and this is what insiders have long said is at the heart of
the so-called FBI city hall health insurance investigation. It's
actually looking at hospitals and price-fixing. Many sources have
insisted that this has been the real target and many such
investigations have happened in other places. By the way, Bruce's
comments are ridiculous in this story. Lubbock hospital charges
are among the highest in the state, higher than many large cities
and you are paying for it in higher insurance rates. |
