I can't believe Terry Greenburg's latest editorial
Saturday on the Michael Vick t-shirt. In it he says "We may have gotten all
worked up about red-light cameras months ago, but people in St. Cloud, Minn,
could care less".
Mr. Greenburg doesn't care about red light cameras. In fact, he doesn't write
about anything of true news interest, only lame topics and sports. Minnesota,
like many other states, has it's own ongoing battle against red light cameras,
but Mr. Greenburg is so out of touch he doesn't even realize it.
The AJ has summarily ignored the red light camera story and served as an
advocate for the City's wrong position since the get go. The paper has done no
research and ignores hundreds of stories of corruption and examples proving the
cameras are all about money.
They have yet to run ONE story on the dozens of cities who have abandoned red
light camera programs. They cite Garland as a shining example of how wonderful
the cameras work, yet they refuse to run the story when corruption is discovered
in the Garland red light system.
The AJ also completely ignored the "right turn" scam being perpetuated in
Lubbock.
I am sad to see the AJ lose focus on actual news coverage, and repeatedly get
beaten on all stories by radio and television sources. I doubt the paper will
continue for many more years due to the lack of actual reporting. They seem to
be trying to become a sports and "warm and fuzzy" paper rather than an actual
newspaper. I guess that is why Mr. Greenburg can't be bothered with red light
camera stories or other actual news in Lubbock as he writes about O.J. or his
last family trip.
Sincerely,
David
Pratt Responds:
The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled the use of the cameras as unconstitutional - a huge development and Greenburg is ignorant of this.
