Show me where Pete Laney had a Lubbockite serving
as chairman of the very powerful Sunset Commission and chairing the key
Appropriations subcommittee on government ops. Show me. Craddick has Lubbock's
own Carl Isett in those positions and other Panhandle, West Texas, and Texas
Tech graduate reps. chairing
the most important committees. Laney's record is not close as he owed his
support to urban liberal democrats.
Craddick actually supports Northwest Texas &
Texas Tech:
-
Warren Chisum, Pampa, chairman of Appropriations;
-
Carl Isett, Lubbock, Appropriations, chairman Appropriations s/c on
General Government, budget & oversight chairman of Licensing & Administrative
Procedures committee, now chairman of the Sunset Commission
-
David Swinford, Amarillo, chairman State Affairs
-
John Smithee, Amarillo, chairman Insurance
-
Drew Darby, San Angelo, chairman of Business and Industry
-
Harvey Hilderbran, Kerrville, TTU grad & major Tech support, district
extends almost to Abilene, chairman Culture, Recreation & Tourism, and
co-chairman Oversight of Edwards Aquifer
-
Jim Keffer, Eastland, chairman of Ways & Means (the fact that
Keffer is a turncoat says much more about him than Craddick, especially after
having been given the chairmanship of Ways & Means)
-
Susan King, Abilene, vice-chairman of Human Services
-
Rick Hardcastle, Vernon, chairman Energy Resources
-
Burt Solomons, Carrollton, TTU grad, chairman Financial Institutions
-
David Farabee (Dem), Wichita Falls, vice chairman Energy Resources
-
Norma Chavez (Dem), El Paso, vice chairman Calendars; chairman budget &
oversight for Financial Institutions
-
Jim McReynolds (Dem), Lufkin, Abilene Christian & TTU grad, chairman
budget & oversight for Corrections
Now take a look at the state House district map and tell me how that compares to
the number of reps statewide!
You can bet that if Lubbock had another state
rep. worth his salt, the area would have even more leadership posts! Legislative
leadership is NOT a retirement job.
