Area newcomers offended greatly by Delwin Jones ads

Just wanted to write a quick note to thank you for shedding some light on the Delwin Jones / Joe Hnatek situation.

As a relative newcomer to this area and to Texas generally (my wife and I moved here from Illinois about 4 years ago), I was deeply offended by the Jones ad wherein the Mayor of Idalou seemed to suggest, at least to me, that those not born here simply don’t matter. I suppose I can understand if people native to this area might not want a newcomer representing them in Austin or Washington. But that ad crossed the line.

My wife and I like it here very much, we plan to spend the rest of our lives here, and even if we haven’t been here all of our lives, we care about what happens here – whether Delwin Jones gives a damn about us or not. Neither Delwin Jones, nor anyone remotely like him, will ever receive our votes.

First, welcome to the High Ground of Texas. Second, your message is emblematic of many calls and emails I've received. Unfortunately this part of Texas is not growing quickly enough to have enough newcomers in it, who will vote, to matter to Mr. Jones.
