At the end of Early Voting, state rep. Delwin Jones,
RINO-Lubbock, dropped a direct mail letter to voters in House district 83. There
is little to say about the letter other than it stoops to a new low from Jones
and is simply shameful.

All of the questions asked, Delwin and his
campaign know the answers to. The charges are generally false or misleading.
Last time Delwin Jones had an opponent, he played the poor-old-me sympathy card
with voters as he was attacked negatively, on his record though, and voters
agreed. However in this race, Hnatek has not even mentioned Delwin in any of his
advertisements or mailings and has focused completely open issues. Jones has not
addressed any issues to come before the Legislature in his advertisements,
instead he has pretended that Hnatek is the same opponent he had two years ago.
Just so you know:
- Apparently Delwin believes that being a Doctor
is bad. Hnatek is a Texan and Baylor University graduate who, with his family,
has chose district 83 to be his home.
- Slick mailings? They are plain 4 color post
cards and the mailings were dropped from where the printer was setup to do so.
What's this got to do with anything? The mailings don't mention Delwin.
Instead they focus upon issues to come before the Legislature.
Now to the NASTY questions designed to create
fear about Dr. Hnatek:
- Dr. Hnatek is from Lubbock County now. This is
where he lives. He was reared in Victoria and practiced medicine in the
Bryan/College Station area before accepting a position with Covenant Health
Systems in Lubbock. The Jones' campaign knows all of this.
- If he has a family? What is this about. Jones
knows full well he has a family, they are featured in one of those "slick"
mailings that Delwin objects to. I've posted their photo below just so you can
see.
- Does he go to church? What a question to ask!
He happens to not only go to church but he is a Deacon at First Baptist Church
in Wolfforth!
- Unlike Delwin Jones', Joe Hnatek has 4
children in our public schools (Frenship ISD).
Here is the Hnatek family, just for Delwin
Jones benefit.

As to the PACs, recruiting and funding:
- No one, not locally or down state, recruited
Dr. Hnatek to run. He is highly interested in Texas politics and saw Delwin's
terrible performance in the last session and wondered why such a conservative
region has a state rep. who votes to kill tax relief with the Democrats;
stands in the way of appraisal reform, and; was the only Republican in the
Texas House to oppose proof of citizenship in registering to vote. He chose to
run so that our region could have two dynamic, energetic and effective state
representatives instead of just Carl Isett.
- Hnatek's campaign money has come from this
area. He has only received in-kind donations from down state and that from
only one PAC which supports conservatives against sell-out
Republican-In-Name-Only reps such as Jones. This PAC learned about Hnatek from
its many local members here, interviewed him, and decided to support him We
are proud of this.
-
Delwin Jones took CASH donations from 24 PACs from down state, many of which
have no interests in West Texas. He took 54% more money from outside the
region than has Hnatek.
Delwin Jones' refusal to discuss his abysmal voting
record in the last record coupled with his attempt to demonize Dr. Joe Hnatek is
a new low from Jones and his handlers. They have long had a distaste for
conservatives and in this campaign, Delwin is showing just how little respect he
has for the voters of district 83.
