The phrase "follow the money" becomes clear when we suddenly have a story almost every day in the Avalanche Journal about a vicious dog incident even when there is not much of an incident.
For about one hundred years Lubbock did not seem to have much of a problem with vicious dogs. In about the last six months we have a story almost every day about a vicious dog attack. What suddenly caused this drastic increase in these stories about vicious dogs?
Now I read where that the $3.5 million dollars to build a new dog pound is not nearly enough to build a dog pound. It will now require at least $5.5 million to build a dog pound that will hold as many dogs as the current facility. An official at the dog pound says a new facility will make the dogs more comfortable and healthy.
What the hell is he talking about making the dogs more comfortable and healthy? These dogs will only be in the shelter for a few days and either be adopted or in the majority of cases be killed. The City of Lubbock is telling us that they want to spend $2 million dollars of our tax money to make dogs that are going to be killed more comfortable and healthy before they kill them.
When it comes to taxpayer money there is no limit to the way these people can dream up ideas to spend our money. Why don't we just park these animals in the Hilton Hotel and give them room service before we kill them? And by the way they ought to be included in Hillary's and Obama's health care plans because none of these animals have health insurance and we want to be sure they are healthy before we kill them.
And by the way I like dogs, I just don't like stupid public officials that have nothing to do but figure out ways to spend more of our tax dollars.
