Ha! You were just talking about microlenders and the
possibility of the gov't competing with them, effectively putting them out of
business. You analysis was that the presence of the microlender was actually
evidence that the market works...... [It
was from this story.]
To piggy-back off of what we were talking about in the email exchange below, all
of this reminds me of a line from the movie Jurassic Park I or II, when one of
the scientists gets to the island and is incredulous about how the dinosaurs
(which were bioengineered to be infertile) had managed to reproduce and thrive
on their own, without the guiding hand of the scientists. The reply from another
scientist was:
"Life finds a way."
And as you and I both know, so does the market.
Best,
Jake
Pratt responds:
You'd be hard pressed to convince many otherwise
good citizens and businessmen of this. They seem to think, even at the local
level, that without local political leaders setting a "growth" agenda, we'd
somehow starve. What we need are government leaders who work to keep government
out of the way and out of our pockets so that individuals can innovate, build
and prosper.
I'm deeply troubled that even local business people who are pro-American and
free market, turn into Socialists when it comes to local government and public
schools. This will be the end of us all at some point if it continues unabated.
