Hello,
I wanted to comment on the homeless topic discussed on your show on March 25th.
I agree something needs to be done immediately.
My family has managed a business in downtown Lubbock for approximately 25 years. Everyday we are confronted with the homeless problem. They frequent our store asking for money or for free merchandise. When we arrive each morning we have to clean up after the homeless who eat and sleep by our building.
Along those same lines I want to add that the Citibus passengers are also a problem. They are usually low income or unemployed people who are also looking for a handout. They also come to us for change because the change machines at the station don't work. They loiter in the store to stay warm during cold weather or they just hang out until the next bus arrives.
As a business we are trying our best to survive downtown. We have made many improvements to our building and we are proud of our accomplishments. Before the city starts any kind of revitalization project they need to help the businesses that are already here by solving the homeless problem now! Moving the bus station or doing away with it wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Thanks for what you do!
