Two or three years ago the dog pound started out at a remodel price of $1.4 million dollars and then went to $3.5 million dollars and then to $5.5 million dollars for a new dog pound. They had the gall to state that they would like to have $10 million dollars for the new pound but could get by on $5.5 million dollars.
Within the last year or so they were going to build a new visitor center for under $3 million dollars but the current cost they passed today is $6.7 million dollars.
In 2004 the City of Lubbock got a bond issue approved that included $1 million dollars to purchase land for a new soccer complex. That cost has escalated into a proposed $11 million dollars to build the soccer complex.
We need a change of leadership in the city council before they spend us into oblivion. If the water pipeline and related projects cost 2 or 3 times as much as the original proposal the City of Lubbock will be bankrupt. This current bunch of councilmen seem to have no limits when it comes to spending taxpayer's money.
