Pratt,
Our "Director of Animal Control", Dog Catcher CEO Kevin Overstreet (Should be renamed Kevin Overstep, or Kevin Over-budget) (the dog catcher with the fancy title, and way too much time to spend talking to the local news channels and threatening the citizens of Lubbock); has told the city that he can't build a new animal shelter for a mere $3.5 million dollars.
Why? Because the pooches who are waiting to be put down need special ceramic tile floors and other costly overruns to make their last days waiting for the grim reaper as comfy as possible (special suites with flat screen TV's tuned to the Animal Channel, puppy treats on the pillows, turn down service, and jacuzzi's in-room?).
Mr. Overboard wants $6,000,000.00 to build his doggie death hotel. I think I could get the job done for less than $600,000. A big metal barn with wire cages and straw on the floor should do the trick.
Have you noticed the fixation on $6,000,000.00 the city leaders have? They also want to build a $6,000,000.00 visitor center. Does some contractor in Lubbock need $6 mil to pay off his sub-prime mortgage? I have another alternative solution. Why not combine both projects in one building. At least then someone would actually go to the visitor's center, if for no other reason than to bail out Fluffy.
