Robert,

The KFYO coverage of the election returns was outstanding, in spite of your absence. The team did a superb job, and I commend all the reporters and commentators for their thorough and professional presentation. (I'm sure you have thoroughly reviewed the events of the evening, so my comments are irrelevant.)

From Miller's expulsion of Rex Andrew from his property at the very beginning of the evening through his statements to the TV stations, the outgoing mayor showed his personality to the public, with no question as to his true identity. Despite his condescending, plastic grin, his bitterness and vitriol were evident. KFYO played his interview with KLBK's Joe Griffin, and when asked if he had any messages for his opponent, he snapped, "NO, SIR!" End of interview. KCBD's reporter Justin Michaels referenced that earlier comment, and then asked if he had any messages at that time for Mr. Martin. Characteristically, Miller said, "No. As soon as he calls, I'll be glad to talk to him." (KCBD has the video on their site.)

As soon as HE CALLS? Whatever happened to the common courtesy tradition of the defeated candidate graciously contacting the winner and congratulating him on a race well-run? Hubris to the highest level.

The voters spoke loudly, and the city moves on to better leadership. And their choice was confirmed as the correct one, based on Miller's actions last night. To borrow from Martin's slogan, it's a good thing he's moving back to the Mean-Spirit Ranch.

Delivery of the A-J was late this morning. We surmised that the editorial staff had to be revived after taking the gas-pipe, causing the delay.
