Skeet,
I listened to what was said on my radio program while on vacation (as mentioned
in your email below.) Often our friends only hear through a defensive ear,
translating what is being said into a completely different thing. Such must be
the case here.
There was nothing even remotely close to slander on the show. Opinion and
criticism was offered, as well as questions asked, all of which were quite
legitimate and related specifically to the political questions at hand. When you
choose to act on a public and political issue, you should expect criticism to be
directed your way. Personally I know you to pull no punches, ever, with those
with whom you disagree. So, certainly you would expect others to treat you with
the same respect.
Regarding the comments of your county representation at the state GOP
convention: You know well, and there were many witnesses, that at the GOP caucus
at convention for SD28, instead of following protocol for announcing your name
and county when addressing the chairman, you announced yourself as either "Skeet
Workman, Lubbock-Hockley County" or "Skeet Workman, Lubbock-Wolfforth" - I
cannot remember exactly what phrase except that you included Lubbock. Such was
disrespectful to those with whom you served as a delegate from Hockley County as
well as being far from correct protocol - it was misleading. As Lubbock County
chairman at the time, I was obliged to rise and correct the matter for the body
when it happened. That I well remember.
The criticism and question directed toward you and Don personally, involved your
residence and voter registration status. You did leave Lubbock County as a voter
for some time after having been very involved in Lubbock. Thus, it is quite
appropriate to ask questions about your standing in Lubbock County, as a
resident and voter, when you are challenging an election which occurred in May.
Especially when,
according to the newspaper, Don did not become a registered voter in Lubbock
County until July, well after the May election. This is a matter which deserves
highlighting and, in my opinion, deserves serious attention. Certainly anyone
has a right to express an opinion about actions in another jurisdiction but, do
they have standing to act upon those criticisms?
You of all people should appreciate, and support as a patriot, the importance of
free political speech - even when it hurts.
Cordially,
Robert Pratt

Subject: Skeet - Did you listen to Robert Pratt Show today?
8/20
Dear Friends,
I got home tonight from meeting with Rick Perry campaign and it seems Don has
received some phone calls and I got an email about the fact
that there were two people on the Robert Pratt show today (Robert is out of
town) who slandered Don and I. Did any of you hear it?
Here is the email I got from a pastor who heard it. They did lie. Do any of you
know who these two people are? I don't mind people talking
about me but I do not like it when the information they are telling is false.
Skeet
Dear Skeet (from a pastor)
You guys were slandered this afternoon in the first 10 minutes.
1) That you coerced the other two protest filers. (liquor election) (They should
call the other two protestors and ask them if they were
coerced).
2) That you do not live in Lubbock county (We live on 92nd St in Lakeridge
addition)
3) That you lied to the (state?) republican convention delegates (when Skeet was
running for national party delegate) as to the location of
your actual physical address, as if to imply that you were from a county called
"Lubbock-Hockley.". (This person was totally off the
mark. I ran in this Senatorial District for State Republican Executive Com about
8 years ago and Hockley county is in this Sen.
District so I did nothing wrong here. We lived in Hockley county west of Lubbock
8 years ago)
You guys ought to nail them. Keep up the fight...I'm with you both.
