Democrats deserve their America-last brand

If there is one thing we as a nation should have learned from Vietnam, and that includes Liberals and democrats too, it is to never put American soldiers on the ground to fight a battle, engagement or war we are not willing to do everything it takes to win.

In a disturbing story in the Times of London we find this: “The soldiers complain that rules of engagement designed to minimise civilian casualties mean that they fight with one arm tied behind their backs.” And, “The soldiers joke that their ISAF arm badges stand not for International Security Assistance Force but “I Suck At Fighting” or “I Support Afghan Farmers”.”

Is it any wonder that respected papers are writing stories headlined “American troops in Afghanistan losing heart, say army chaplains”, when we’ve a president who has spent more time appearing on late-night comedy shows than he has discussing the war with his top generals? Is it any wonder morale is falling to a dangerous low when our Commander and Chief openly states that he is “uncomfortable” using the word victory to describe our goal in Afghanistan?

Afghanistan is the theater of war in which even most of the anti-Iraq fighting crowd agreed was appropriate and necessary to engage. But now that it is the hot spot, all our soldiers get is paralysis by analysis from the White House.

The democrat party has been trying to get the weak-on-national-security brand off its chest since the 1970’s. But now we are seeing that their America-last reputation was not earned by accident, it is well deserved and grotesquely earned. Meanwhile our soldiers have neither the help they need or the clarity of mission they desire.
