The term "government" seems to have changed

Robert,

In reading Robert Hudnall’s letter concerning the government, soccer, and sex, I’m in agreement with him.

In response to your comment on his letter, it’s my opinion that the use of the term “government” has changed. Although the taxpayers do pay for supporting people’s habits (or hobbies), today’s government means “domineering bureaucracy funded by taxpayers.” Government is no longer “us.” It’s “them,” using our money.

Look at what is being done to this country by government, in spite of the will of responsible, thinking people. The entitlement mentality of those who are recipients of government largesse has been created and perpetuated by a long line of people who do not care where the money comes from, nor what the taxpayers actually want. Taxpayers are far outnumbered now by the spenders, from the top all the way down to the welfare recipients, and the government is not the taxpayers anymore.

The government decides what will be done; the taxpayers pay for it.
