I played on Huffman [Lubbock's existing giant soccer
complex in the NW part of the city] the year it opened, I also played
before it opened. The simple fact is this....the kids don't give a flying crap
where they play, their parents do. This is about taxpayers making soccer Moms
life easier and more convenient, not about the kids.

This is exactly what my take on it is. For the most part, kids don’t know they’re poor, or that mom and dad have a “old car", or that the house or furniture isn’t fancy enough, until they hear parents telling them. They damn sure don’t know that the soccer fields are sub-standard – they just run around and play and have fun. It’s adults who do such a disservice to children when they inculcate the attitude of always wanting more and newer things as opposed to gratitude for what they have.
