I have heard you talk several times about the importance of home and personal defense and I am totally on board.
I have always had a question however on how and where to store firearms in the house. I have 2 small children and I keep all my firearms in a safe. However if I hear someone busting a door in at 2 a.m. I can't get to the safe across the house, punch in the code and grab the gun in a fast timeframe.
I was curious as to what you advise people on different places to keep guns so they are available and ready, while still keeping safety in mind.
Thanks,
Barry

That’s an interesting question and I’ve heard many ideas. If they are not very small the best solution seems to be to teach them all about the firearms so they know not to touch them just as they don’t keep touching a hot stove (this involves more duty when they have friends over.)
Dr. Darla Granberry has made the point that keeping a firearm on your person is among the best ways to solve these problems. You know where it is, have it with you in all places, and have complete control over it.
There are quick-access small gun safes which can install under-cabinet, in drawers, on night stands, etc. and you could set the same combination for all and still have a firearm in multiple locations for emergencies (some are biometric but I'd hate to depend on a fingerprint when half-scared-to-death!) I’ve a friend who keeps the pistol in his suburban, hotel room, etc. in one of these as he has small children.
Here are some examples: http://www.gunsafes.com/Pistol-and-Handgun-Safes.html
The small gun safe has other benefits as valuables such as watches, rings and cash can be put in them which would stop small-time, opportunity-of-the-moment pilfering from cleaning, repair or other persons on your property.
