Robert,

Disappointed to see the article linked to by Pratt On Texas that Tech was firing Coach Ruffin McNeill. I recall reading in an earlier story that one of the advantages of bringing in Tuberville was that he wasn’t bringing a coaching staff with him. Apparently he is keeping only 2 of Leach’s staff.

This is a real shame and Tech fans should be outraged. McNeill was a classy guy, a great coach, and took the high road during the debacle after Tech fired Leach. I along with many other Tech watchers assumed that whoever was the new coach would keep McNeill.

And now Tech has the dishonor of having fired the 1st and 3rd most winning Tech coaches in Tech in less than 30 days. McNeill is the winningest coach with a 1-0 record (1.000 winning percentage). Leach is the 3rd winningest coach in Tech (84-43 for .661 winning percentage).

David

P.S. Pete Cawthon is the 2nd winningest coach with a 76-32-6 record from 1930-1940 for a .693 winning percentage.

Pratt responds:

Chancellor Hance has recognized this dishonor to Coach McNeill and has, with our money, offered him an assistant athletic director job until he finds a coaching position he likes. Isn't it interesting that Tech, as a state agency, can simply create positions and hire people with our money to fill them?
