Icon Benefit Administrators & AAG drop lawsuit against individual City of
Lubbock officials but, officials appear to want suit to continue! On 24 May, Icon/AAG, frequently referred to as the Ted Parker companies, filed a motion in Dallas County Court at Law #2 to drop its lawsuit against several City of Lubbock employees and former officials including the city manager and a former mayor. On 25 May, the court granted the Motion for Non-Suit without Prejudice, or dismissal. However on 2 June, the defendants filed a motion to compel additional depositions to "prepare their defenses" for a lawsuit which no longer exists! Here are the key documents:
Icon/AAG has new executive leadership which does not wish to continue dealing with small-time irritants in Lubbock, Texas, former company-head Ted Parker's hometown, and has decided to simply drop the matter. But the defendants in Lubbock, having their lawyers and deposition trips paid for by taxpayers, have asked the court to compel more depositions to prepare their defense for a case which as been dismissed. I know what I think about these lawyers and former defendants. You figure it out and come to your own conclusions. ©2010 Pratt on Texas
