Pratt,
Fire Lubbock County Commissioners.
I think it is time for the tax payers of Lubbock County to stand up and tell
our Commissioners to make themselves available to the private sector. If they
are really worth the wages they are seeking they will not have any trouble
finding employment.
Explain to me why someone runs for office knowing what their salary will be and
then proclaim they need more money to do the job. I do not have any problem with
the county employees receiving raises in pay as long as it is in line with what
the private sector earns.
I believe there should be a limit of two terms for Commissioners, after which
they can go out and live with the decisions they have made. Tax payers need to
stand up and let their voices be heard before we become another California.

Pratt responds:
Here’s the problem, the same voters who are
rightly angered by profligate spending in Washington turn a blind-eye to local
government. In this past Tea Party dominated primary, the biggest spending
Republicans Lubbock's ever had in local office garnered, either no competition,
or the biggest vote.
In other words, local Republican voters have said recently, at the ballot box,
that they want higher taxes, bigger county government, and princely paid masters
in their courthouse. Why would those commissioners see it any other way?
