Mr. Pratt,
I worked for Charles Perry's and Jim Landtroop's campaigns in the last election.
I strongly support both of them and have been glad to see that both of them are
sticking to their principles and doing what we elected them to do well. When I
first saw the Solomons' Redistricting Proposal I was concerned that I would have
to chose between these two excellent freshman legislators in 2012. Then, I had
an idea. Perhaps one of them would be interested in a run for the State Senate.
I do not think that Senator Duncan is doing a very good job of representing our
conservative values in Austin. It is time for him to be challenged in an
election and I hope that a strong conservative candidate will step up and do it.
Regards,
Jon
Pratt responds:
Liberal Paul Burka at Texas Monthly actually put forth this idea today too. Listeners know of my objections to positions taken by Senator Duncan but, in all honesty and experience, I can tell you that he is not particularly vulnerable. If Duncan were to choose not to run, there are many powerful folk ready to run for an open seat. At the moment, I don't think either Charles Perry or Jim Landtroop would have much of a chance at it - just my well informed and experienced opinion.
